Marlene Aragon is an American singer and actress. She is known for her work in Challenge of the Superfriends (1978) and The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang (1980).

She voiced the sentient A.I. holographic projector and mentor, Synergy, in the Jem animated series. In addition to this role, she also provided the voice of many other minor characters, including Jacqui Benton, Countess Danielle Du Voisin, Ellen Sue Tanner, Joanie Stuart, Liz Stratton, Harriet Horn and Yvette.

Career[]

Once dubbed "The Willow Thrush" by Variety magazine, singer and actress Marlene Aragon has performed in jazz clubs, theaters, film and television. Her credits also include numerous TV commercials and hundreds of voiceover projects, including cartoons and narrations. She is known for providing the voice of Elita One in The Transformers cartoon, and Cheetah in Challenge of the Superfriends.

In the Sunbow/Marvel 1980s animated series, Jem, she provided the voice of Synergy, a sophisticated A.I. and ultimate holographic and lights projector who acts as mentor and mother figure for the heroines of the show. She voiced several other minor characters in the show as well, such as the recurring characters Countess Danielle Du Voisin and Harriet Horn.

During and after Jem, Ms. Aragon produced two childrens' audio cassettes, Piggelty-Woo and Songs for You, and Piggelty-Woo Shares Feelings With You, in which she sings all the songs and does most of the voices.

She appeared as a nurse in the video packaging for the movie South Pacific. For several years after the movie, she performed as a jazz stylist and also appeared in musicals.

Marlene is also credited for providing overdubs in "Weird Al" Yankovic's song "I Can't Watch This" from his 1992 album, Off the Deep End.
