Alias

Graphix

Graphic artist

Affiliation

The Misfits, The Stingers

Gwendolyn Snyder, better known as Graphix, was going to be the new Misfit doll. Graphix was added to the Jem Bible but was never introduced on the show, as the doll was pulled before an episode was written.

Biography

Graphix was a snobby, spoiled rich graphic artist. Eric Raymond hired her to design album covers, logos and other promotional items for The Misfits and The Stingers. She preferred the Stingers, especially Rapture, with whom she would have pulled pranks on both The Misfits and The Holograms. Over time, Graphix would become a groupie to The Stingers, just as Clash was to The Misfits.

Appearance

Graphix has big, poofy blonde hair, wears yellow and orange eyeshadow, and has two makeup-tattoos on her face. A checkered square on the left cheek and a blue lightning bolt on the right one. She wears a white long-sleeved tight shirt and white tight leggings, both which have artistic designs on them. She also wears a red vinyl skirt and red vinyl boots.

Cut from Hasbro

In 1988, Hasbro was going to release the Stingers and Hollywood Jem. Hollywood Jem was that year's lead doll, just like Glitter 'n Gold Jem was in 1987. They were also due to release Rockin' Romance and American Beauty as budget dolls, like Rock'n Curl Jem the year before.

The line was then cut back because of bad sales, so Hasbro was getting rid of the bands, both The Holograms and The Misfits. Hasbro was going to keep the lead singers, Jem and Pizzazz, with some friends who were not part of the bands. Jem's friends were Astral, Regine, Video and Danse. Pizzazz's friends were Clash and Graphix.

Pizzazz was going to get a new look and the old costumes were to be abandoned, with new Matching Medley (Mix & Match) outfits to replace them. Then Pizzazz and her friends were put on hold, so just Jem, two dolls of her, and Astral, Regine, Video and Danse with the Matching Medley outfits were going to be released. They appear in the 1988 pre-toy fair catalog, but then Hasbro canceled the line altogether.

Trivia

  • The item she holds in her prototype photos is a "Video Distorter". Just like Clash's "Distortion Modular" would jam Jem's concerts, Graphix would wreck Jem's video shoots with it.
