Luna Dark is a minor character in the Jem animated series. She was one of the music celebrities invited to perform at the "Jem Jam".
History[]
Seeing how Jem and The Holograms were upstaging them by having many celebrities invited to perform at the "Jem Jam", The Misfits, disguised as chaperones and aided by one of Techrat's electronic devices, managed to change the gate number of pop star celebrity Luna Dark's flight on a signboard at the airport and tricked her into coming with them instead.
Luna, although suspicious that Jem wasn't there to receive her as planned, was left with no other option than to follow the supposed welcome party to Pizzazz's mansion. Fortunately, Aja caught a glimpse of them just as they were driving out of the airport and Jem went alone after them.
Using Synergy's holographic projections, Jem was able to bypass the security guard at the mansion by disguising herself as Pizzazz. After a minor mishap with the guard dogs, Jem managed to find Luna's room and rescued her.
At the "Jem Jam", we can see Luna performing mainly with Ron Cox throughout the concert.

The only known album by Luna Dark, titled simply Luna, appears as part of a montage for the song "Gettin' Down To Business" in the episode The Bands Break Up.

- Luna Dark was based on real life pop icon, Madonna, whose growing popularity by pushing the boundaries of lyrical content in mainstream popular music and imagery in her music videos since the 1980s have allowed her to establish herself as one of the most influential artists in the music industry.
- When designing the character, Christy Marx originally called her "Cherry Bomb", but Hasbro didn't allow this name to be used.[1]
- The character was named Luna Dark in reference to Luna Park Sydney, a heritage-listed amusement park located in Milsons Point, New South Wales, Australia.[1]
